By the Shore
When I close my eyes,
I see waves.
I feel your lips—
the waves are salty,
your lips so sweet.
You’re pouring over
and into me,
leaving no salty marks
and untangling hands
as if nothing ever happened.
Yet a grain of sand,
ever so small,
will tell the truth
once and for all
about our time so short—
our time by the shore.
